WHO WE ARE

Who we are

The Princeton-Codora-Glenn Irrigation District (PCGID) service area comprises a total of approximately 11,700 acres and 125 landowners. Approximately 10,500 acres of the total are irrigable land. PCGID holds water rights on the Sacramento River which are senior to those of the Central Valley Project. The District executed a water rights Settlement Contract with the United States in 1964. The contract quantifies PCGID’s water rights water (“Base Supply”) at 52,810 acre feet and provides for a supplemental CVP supply of 15,000 acre feet. In addition to the contract water, the PCGID diverts water for irrigation, wetlands and agricultural land management during the non-irrigation season. Many of PCGID’s operations are coordinated with the Provident Irrigation District, located directly adjacent and west of the District.

About Us

History

Princeton Codora Glenn Irrigation District (PCGID) was formed in 1916 by Landowners to take over a portion of the River Branch Canal System which was managed by The Sacramento Valley West Side Canal Company. In 1918 The Sidds Landing Pumping Plant was completed enabling the District to divert 130 CFS from the river. In 1956, the pumping capacity was increased by 80 CFS with the construction of a pumping plant on the water side. This brought total pumping capacity at the Sidds Landing to 210 CFS. The Schaad Plant built one mile north of Princeton gave PCGID another 90 CFS bringing total pumping capacity to 305 CFS.

In 2001 PCGID, with Provident Irrigation District completed construction of a new 605 CFS pumping plant at Sidds Landing which consolidated PCGID’s original two pumping plants and PID’s pumping plant into one new state of the art, fish friendly pumping facility.
